Valorant/Balance/Weapon Patch

Proposed Weapon Balance Patch

Trim the meta staples, give the underused weapons a reason to buy

A pass across every weapon category. The competitive staples — the Vandal's flat damage, the Sheriff's one-tap potential, the Stinger's absurd fire rate, the Judge's full-auto blasts, and the Operator's risk-free one-shot kills — get trimmed since they're close to auto-picks in their price bracket. Underused weapons with a real niche — the Shorty, Bandit, Bucky, Guardian, and Marshal — get buffed to make them worth building into a buy round. Weapons whose numbers already sit in a healthy spot relative to their cost — the Phantom, Spectre, Bulldog, Outlaw, Odin, and Ares — are held as-is.

Sidearms · 3 changes

Nerf

One-tap headshot potential on a cheap pistol round makes it a frequent early-round decider. Fire Rate 4 → 3.5 rounds/sec.

Buff

Weakest sidearm beyond point-blank range. Pellet spread tightened 4.0° → 3.6°, so more pellets land just past melee range.

Buff

New pistol still underused relative to the Ghost. Magazine Size 8 → 9.

SMGs · 2 changes

Nerf

The fastest fire rate in the game trivializes close-range duels against full rifles. Fire Rate 16 → 15 rounds/sec.

Hold

Held — a well-costed, consistent anti-eco pick with no outlier stat.

Shotguns · 2 changes

Nerf

Its full-auto fire rate lets it out-trade rifles at close range too consistently. Fire Rate 3.5 → 3.0 rounds/sec.

Buff

Rarely bought over the Judge. Pellet spread tightened 2.6° → 2.3°, so more pellets land at range.

Rifles · 4 changes

Nerf

The most-picked rifle in competitive play — flat damage with no falloff makes every headshot lethal at any range. Head damage 160 → 155 (0-50m).

Hold

Held — damage falloff and the lack of tracers already balance it against the Vandal.

Buff

Its one-shot headshot potential is undercut by a fire rate too slow to get picked over a full-auto rifle. Fire Rate 5.25 → 5.75 rounds/sec.

Hold

Held — a fair bridge between pistols and full-price rifles at its current cost.

Sniper Rifles · 3 changes

Nerf

The definitive one-shot-kill weapon at every range and body region, with almost no downside to holding an angle. Fire Rate 0.6 → 0.5 rounds/sec, lengthening the delay before a follow-up shot.

Hold

Held — its two-shot magazine and mobility already balance its power against the Operator's price tag.

Buff

Consistently passed over for the Operator despite costing a fraction of the price. Fire Rate 1.5 → 1.8 rounds/sec for faster follow-up shots.

Heavy · 2 changes

Hold

Held — its huge magazine and wall-breaching power already justify the price tag for site-wide suppression.

Hold

Held — a cheap, high-magazine suppression option that's appropriately weaker per-bullet than the Odin.

Note: This is a hypothetical design proposal, not a live patch. All 16 weapons are addressed. Balance changes are limited to weapon stats (fire rate, damage, magazine size) and credit cost, since agent abilities are covered by the separate agent balance patch.
